UIC Graduate College Outstanding Thesis/Dissertation Award

Dr. Sayantan Mahapatra received this year’s UIC Graduate College Outstanding Thesis/Dissertation Award in recognition of his dissertation and scholarly achievements. The Graduate College’s annual Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Award is given to the most outstanding master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation in each of the four Graduate Program divisions, as determined by the Graduate College Awards Committee. Sayantan’s dissertation entitled “Probing Photophysical and Photochemical Processes via Nano-Confined Localized Surface Plasmons” explores the domain of sub-nanoscale interactions between light and matter. Sayantan is one of five doctoral students who won across the university.

Thank Sayantan for bringing this prestigious award back to our group! He will start his new postdoctoral position at Argonne National Laboratory.
